Sent With Peace

05/09/2026

There is a big difference between simply surviving a hard season and being sent from it with purpose. Jesus did not rise from the grave so His followers could hide forever behind locked doors. He came into their fear, spoke peace over them, and then gave them a mission.

“Again Jesus said, ‘Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.’”
— John 20:21 NIV

The disciples were gathered behind locked doors. They had seen Jesus arrested. They had watched hope be crucified. They had heard reports of an empty tomb, but fear still had a grip on the room. Then Jesus stepped into the middle of their fear and spoke the words their hearts needed most: “Peace be with you.”

But Jesus did not stop with comfort. He moved from peace to purpose.

“As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.”

That means peace is not just something God gives us so we can feel better. Peace is something He gives us so we can go forward. The disciples were not sent because they were fearless. They were sent because Jesus was alive. They were not sent because they had everything figured out. They were sent because the risen Savior stood among them.

That is good news for us. We often wait to feel qualified, confident, healed, organized, or ready before we believe God can use us. But Jesus sends people who still have questions. He sends people who have been afraid. He sends people who have failed before. He sends people who need His peace every step of the way.

Your workplace can become a mission field. Your family can become a place of grace. Your neighborhood can become a place where the love of Jesus is seen before it is ever explained. You do not have to force your way into someone’s life. You simply carry the peace of Christ into the places He has already placed you.

Today, remember this: you are not just saved from something. You are sent for something.

Take a moment to receive the peace of Jesus before you rush into your day.

Ask God to show you one person who needs encouragement, prayer, patience, or kindness.

Walk into your ordinary places with an extraordinary awareness that Jesus has sent you there.

Speak peace before you speak opinions.

Look for one simple way to represent Jesus well today.

Today’s challenge:
Before the day is over, intentionally encourage one person in the name of Jesus. It may be a text, a prayer, a conversation, or a small act of kindness. Do not overcomplicate it. Just go where Jesus sends you and carry His peace with you.

Lord Jesus, thank You for stepping into locked rooms and fearful hearts. Thank You for giving peace before You give assignment. Help me receive Your peace today and carry it into the places You send me. Open my eyes to the people around me who need hope, grace, and encouragement. Use my words, my actions, and my presence to reflect You. Amen.
