The Way, The Truth, The Life

02/21/2026

“Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’”
— John 14:6 (NIV)

The room was heavy that night.

Jesus had just told His disciples that He was going away. The One they had left everything for… the One who calmed storms and raised the dead… the One who called them friends… was speaking of departure. You can almost hear the anxiety in their breathing.

Thomas, ever honest, speaks what they are all thinking: “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”

And Jesus does not hand them a map.

He gives them Himself.

“I am the way and the truth and the life.”

Not “I will show you a way.”
Not “I will teach you some truth.”
Not “I will give you a better life.”

“I am.”

In a world obsessed with options, Jesus makes a singular claim. He is not one of many roads up a mountain. He is the bridge over the chasm. He is the door into the Father’s presence. He is the only One who can reconcile a holy God and a broken humanity.

I remember standing at an airport years ago watching travelers rush past with their boarding passes in hand. Everyone moving with confidence because they knew their destination and gate. But imagine showing up with no ticket, no gate number, and no flight assigned, just hoping you’d end up somewhere good. It doesn’t work that way.

Salvation is not spiritual optimism.
It is not moral effort.
It is not religious sincerity.

It is Jesus.

When you feel lost, He is the way.
When culture feels confused, He is the truth.
And when your soul feels empty, He is the life.

As a pastor and leader, I’ve walked with people in hospital rooms, counseling offices, and funeral services. I’ve seen firsthand that when everything else falls away, only one foundation holds. It’s not philosophy. It’s not politics. It’s not prosperity. It’s Christ alone.

When Jesus says, “No one comes to the Father except through me,” it isn’t exclusion born of pride. It is invitation born of love. If there were another way, the cross would have been unnecessary. But because sin demanded a sacrifice and love demanded a Savior, Jesus became the way.

This verse isn’t meant to spark arrogance in us. It is meant to produce gratitude. We didn’t discover the way. The Way found us.

Today, don’t just admire the path.

Walk in Him.

Action Steps:
• Spend five quiet minutes thanking Jesus specifically for being your way to the Father.
• Identify one area of confusion in your life and submit it to Him as Truth.
• Invite someone into a conversation about who Jesus is, not with argument, but with humility and love.

Today’s Challenge:
When uncertainty comes , and it will, respond with this confession out loud: “Jesus, You are my way.” Let that declaration steady your heart.

Prayer:
Father, thank You for not leaving us to wander. Thank You for sending Your Son to be the way, the truth, and the life. Forgive me for the times I look for other paths or trust my own understanding. Anchor me in Christ alone. Help me walk confidently in Him today and lovingly point others toward Him. In Jesus’ name, amen.
