Stirred to Love

01/31/2026

“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.”
Hebrews 10:24 (NIV)

There is something deeply intentional about the word consider. The writer of Hebrews isn’t talking about casual encouragement or surface-level kindness. This is thoughtful, prayerful, deliberate attention to one another. It assumes relationship. It assumes proximity. It assumes that we actually know the people we are trying to spur forward.

In a culture that often says, “Just worry about yourself,” Scripture invites us into a better way. Following Jesus has never been a solo journey. We grow best when we are connected. When someone notices us drifting and lovingly calls us back, or when someone sees potential in us before we see it in ourselves.

Think about a time when someone believed in you at just the right moment. Maybe it was a coach, a teacher, a friend, or a fellow believer who spoke truth into your life when you were discouraged or distracted. Their words didn’t just make you feel better; they moved you forward. That’s what today’s verse is calling us to do for one another.

Notice also the direction of the encouragement: love and good deeds. Not applause. Not status. Not comfort. Love that reflects Christ, and actions that flow from that love. When we stir one another up in this way, the church becomes less of a place we attend and more of a people on mission together.

This verse quietly challenges us to ask: Who am I intentionally encouraging? And just as importantly, who has permission to encourage me?

Take a moment today to look around, not just at the crowd, but at the people. God may want to use your words, your presence, or your consistency to help someone take their next step of faith.

Action steps:
• Reach out to one person today with a specific word of encouragement.
• Ask yourself who God has placed in your life that you can intentionally invest in.
• Invite someone to walk alongside you in faith, not just friendship.

Today’s challenge:
Be intentional. Don’t wait for the perfect moment, be the spark that helps someone move toward love and action today.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for placing us in community. Help me to see people the way You see them. Give me wisdom to encourage at the right time and courage to speak truth in love. Stir my heart so that I may stir others toward lives that honor You. Use me today for Your purposes. Amen.
