A Heart That Remembers
11/27/2025
“I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.”
— Psalm 9:1 (NIV)
Gratitude is more than a polite response to God’s goodness it’s an intentional act of remembering. David’s words here are not casual; they flow from a heart that has taken inventory of God’s faithfulness. When he says, “with all my heart,” he is declaring that thanksgiving isn’t something to be done halfway. It pulls from every corner of memory, every place where grace has touched your life, and every moment where God carried you though you didn’t even realize it.
David then adds, “I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.” Thanksgiving is never meant to stay silent. In Scripture, remembering and speaking always go together. Israel was commanded to rehearse the mighty acts of God so the next generation would know (Psalm 78:4). Paul encouraged believers to tell the stories of God’s works so courage and faith would rise (1 Thessalonians 5:11). Gratitude grows when it’s spoken.
Think of how often the enemy works in the opposite direction. Instead of remembering, he pushes us toward forgetting. Instead of rehearsing God’s goodness, he tempts us to replay our failures, fears, or frustrations. Psalm 9:1 becomes a spiritual discipline that pulls your heart back to truth. When you intentionally give thanks and intentionally tell of His deeds, your heart realigns with the God who has never failed you—not once.
Quick Action Steps:
• Make a short list of three “wonderful deeds” God has done in your life—recent or long past—and thank Him for each one.
• Tell one person today something God has done for you. It doesn’t have to be dramatic—just honest.
• Pray Psalm 9:1 aloud, slowly, letting each phrase settle into your heart.
Today’s Challenge:
Speak one testimony out loud today. Even a sentence. Let gratitude have a voice. Be thankful for something today.
Prayer:
Father, thank You with all my heart. You have been faithful in ways I saw and in ways I never knew. Bring to my mind Your wonderful deeds, and give me boldness to share them so others may see Your goodness too. Help my heart remember, my mouth testify, and my life reflect Your unending grace. In Jesus’ name, amen.
