A Shelter in Every Storm

“Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done wonderful things, things planned long ago.”
- Isaiah 25:1 (NIV)
There’s something deeply comforting in knowing that God doesn’t improvise His way through your life. Isaiah reveals a God whose plans are not reactionary, accidental, or last-minute fixes but rather purposeful, established, and perfectly faithful.
Think about the phrase Isaiah uses here: “things planned long ago.” We often assume God starts working when trouble appears. But Isaiah says the opposite. God has already been at work long before the storm formed, the enemy rose, or the challenge surfaced.
One of those HGTV remodel shows had a couple who remodeled an old house they had bought. When they pulled back the wallpaper and opened up the walls, they discovered these hidden beams. Beautiful, strong cedar supports placed there by the original builders. Those beams had held the weight of the house for decades, quietly doing their job even though no one saw them.
God’s faithfulness is like that. Long before we face anything, He has placed support beams in our lives. Moments of grace, divine appointments, unexpected provision, hidden protections, and future breakthroughs. You may only see drywall and cracks on the surface, but underneath your life is held together by the perfect faithfulness of God.
Isaiah praises God before describing the problems around him. That’s not denial, it’s trust. Worship in the face of uncertainty is our way of saying, “God has a plan, and He’s already ahead of me.”
God doesn’t just rescue; He prepares. He doesn’t just respond; He reigns. He doesn’t show up late; He’s already been there before us.
Action Steps
• Identify one area of life where you feel behind or overwhelmed. Speak Isaiah 25:1 over it.
• Reflect on a moment in your past where God’s faithfulness showed up in ways you didn’t see at the time.
• Begin your day with two things: “Lord, You are my God,” and “I will exalt You.” Let praise be your starting point, not your last resort.
Challenge for Today
Praise God before you see the solution. Exalt Him for the “things planned long ago” that you can’t see yet, trusting that His perfect faithfulness is already supporting you.
Prayer
Father, You are my God, and today I choose to exalt You. Thank You for the wonderful things You have planned long before I ever needed them. Help me trust Your perfect faithfulness and rest in the truth that You are always working for my good. Strengthen my heart to worship in every season and remind me daily that Your plans never fail. In Jesus’ name, amen.
