Love Rejoices in the Truth
11/11/2025
“Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.”
— 1 Corinthians 13:6 (NIV)
When Paul wrote these words to the Corinthian church, he was painting a picture of love that runs counter to our culture’s version. The world often celebrates when others fall or when secrets are exposed for entertainment. But true, godly love does not take pleasure in someone’s pain or in wrongdoing. Instead, it finds joy when truth wins, when justice is done, and when hearts are made right before God.
Imagine a friend who genuinely celebrates your growth in faith, even if it means you’ve surpassed them in some way. Or think of a moment when you had to speak a difficult truth in love to someone, not to shame them, but to set them free. That’s the kind of love Paul describes here, the love that mirrors Jesus, who rejoiced not in condemnation, but in repentance and restoration.
In our relationships, it’s easy to gossip, criticize, or secretly find satisfaction when someone “gets what they deserve.” But Christlike love looks different. It sees beyond faults, desires reconciliation, and celebrates when light breaks through darkness. When we choose to rejoice in truth, we reflect the very heart of God. It’s a heart that longs for purity, honesty, and grace to prevail.
Action Steps:
1. Examine your heart: Do you find joy in truth or in the failures of others?
2. Ask God to help you speak truth in love, even when it’s hard.
3. Celebrate moments when truth and righteousness win, no matter who gets the credit.
Today’s Challenge:
Refuse to engage in gossip or negative talk. Instead, find one person today to encourage with words that reflect truth and love.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for showing me what real love looks like through Jesus. Help me to rejoice in truth and never delight in wrongdoing. Purify my heart and let my words and actions bring light and hope to others. Teach me to love like You do, with sincerity, integrity, and grace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
