Take Courage, Stay Strong
10/26/2025
“Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord.”
– Psalm 31:24 (NIV)
David’s words in Psalm 31 come from a place of deep personal struggle. He was hunted, misunderstood, and betrayed, yet even in the darkest corners of despair, he found the courage to trust God. His declaration, “Be strong and take heart,” wasn’t a command born from comfort, but from confidence, confidence that God was still in control, even when life felt out of control.
Hope, in Scripture, isn’t wishful thinking; it’s anchored assurance. It’s believing that even though you can’t yet see how God will work things out, He already has a plan in motion. Like a sailor who keeps steering by the light of a distant star, we stay the course because we trust the One who set the stars in place.
I once heard the story of a mountain climber who, when caught in a storm halfway up a frozen peak, radioed down for advice. The voice on the other end simply said, “Don’t let go. Help is coming.” That’s what this verse is whispering to us today, don’t let go. No matter the storm, help is on the way.
Action Steps:
1. Speak life over your situation. Say out loud, “My hope is in the Lord.”
2. Encourage someone else. Sometimes strength grows when we share it.
3. Pause and pray before reacting. Courage often begins in stillness.
Today’s Challenge:
When fear or discouragement creeps in, pause and say: “I will be strong and take heart. My hope is in You, Lord.”
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for being my source of strength and hope. When my heart grows weary, remind me that Your promises are sure and Your love never fails. Help me to stand firm and take courage, knowing that You are working even when I can’t see it. In Jesus’ name, amen.
