Mighty Warrior

10/21/2025

“When the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon, he said, ‘The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.’” — Judges 6:12 (NIV)

When we first meet Gideon, he doesn’t look anything like a “mighty warrior.” He’s hiding in a winepress, threshing wheat in secret because he’s afraid of the Midianites. Fear, insecurity, and defeat have wrapped themselves tightly around his heart. Yet, God sees beyond Gideon’s fear to the courage He planted deep within him. God calls him not by his current condition but by his divine potential.

This is a powerful reminder that God’s declarations over our lives are never based on where we are but where He’s taking us. Gideon saw himself as the least in his family, from the weakest clan, but God saw him as a deliverer. So often, we let our circumstances define our identity, our failures, our past, our limitations. But God looks at us through the lens of His purpose and calls us something greater.

Picture a sculptor standing before a rough block of marble. To the untrained eye, like mine, it’s just stone. But the artist sees the masterpiece hidden within. In you, God sees the mighty warrior, the faithful servant, and the bold witness you are, even when you can’t.

Action Steps:
1. Speak what God says about you. Each morning, declare one truth about who you are in Christ.
2. Face your fears with faith. Step toward something you’ve been avoiding, trusting that God goes with you.
3. Encourage someone else. Remind a friend or family member of the strength you see in them.

Today’s Challenge:
When self-doubt whispers, “You can’t,” respond with God’s word: “The Lord is with me.” Let your confidence come not from your strength, but from His presence.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You that You see me not as I am, but as I can be through You. Help me to walk boldly in the identity You’ve given me. Remind me that Your presence makes me mighty, even in my weakness. Amen.
