One in Christ

“There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”
— Galatians 3:28 (NIV)
The Apostle Paul penned these words to a divided church in Galatia. Lines had been drawn, Jew and Gentile, slave and free, male and female, each group with its own sense of identity, superiority, and pride. But Paul was reminding them that the cross of Christ levels the playing field. At Calvary, no one is higher, no one is lower, no one is left out. The blood of Jesus makes us one family.
Think about how often our culture creates categories. We do it by race, income, education, politics, or gender. We’re quick to label and separate, sometimes even in the church. But Paul calls us back to the truth: unity in Christ. Think about a symphony orchestra, many instruments, each different, yet when played together, they create beautiful harmony. That’s the vision of God’s kingdom. Our differences don’t vanish, but in Christ, they no longer divide us, they enrich us.
I once heard a story of a church potluck where the wealthiest businessman and the humblest laborer both stood side by side, serving food on the same line. No titles, no hierarchy, just brothers in Christ. That is the Gospel lived out.
Action steps to help on your journey:
Look for ways to break down barriers today, invite someone different from you into your circle.
Speak words of encouragement that remind others of their worth in Christ.
Pray for unity in your family, church, and community.
Today’s Challenge:
Refuse to see others through the lens of the world’s categories. Instead, see them as God does, redeemed and loved in Christ.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for making us one in Christ. Forgive me for the times I have let labels or divisions cloud my vision of others. Help me to love without conditions, to welcome without hesitation, and to live in the unity Jesus prayed for. May my words and actions today reflect the truth that in Christ, we are family. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
