Strength Renewed

08/24/2025

“but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.”
— Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)

When Isaiah spoke these words, he was addressing a people who were weary and discouraged, living under the weight of exile and uncertainty. Life often feels like that for us too. Our responsibilities, burdens, and battles can leave us drained. Yet, God promises that those who place their hope in Him will find a strength that doesn’t come from within themselves but flows from His unending power.

Think about the eagle. Unlike smaller birds who flap tirelessly to stay in the air, eagles soar by catching the thermal winds. They spread their wings and are carried upward by a force greater than themselves. That’s the picture Isaiah paints—when we lean into God’s strength rather than our own, He lifts us. We don’t just keep going; we soar.

Sometimes we’re in “flying seasons,” where God carries us to new heights. Other times, it feels like we’re simply running through the demands of daily life. And there are moments when we’re barely walking, one step at a time. Yet in every stage, God sustains us. He doesn’t promise to remove the journey, but He promises to renew us so that we can endure it.

Action steps to help on your journey:
• Begin your day by surrendering your agenda to God in prayer.
• Memorize Isaiah 40:31 and repeat it when you feel weary.
• Identify one area in your life where you’ve been relying on your own strength and consciously place it in God’s hands.
• Take a few minutes outside to observe the sky, birds, or creation, and let it remind you of God’s sustaining power.

Today’s Challenge:
When you feel tired or overwhelmed today, whisper a prayer: “Lord, lift me on Your strength.” Refuse to rely only on yourself, ask Him to carry you.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for renewing my strength when I feel weak. Help me to lean into Your power instead of my own. Lift me like the eagle, steady me when I run, and sustain me when I walk. May my hope always be rooted in You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
