Everything We Need
08/16/2025
“His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.”
— 2 Peter 1:3 (NIV)
This verse is like a deep breath of assurance. Imagine heading out on a long journey, and just before you leave, someone hands you a fully supplied backpack: food, water, tools, even a map. There’s no need to stop and wonder if you forgot something, you’ve been given everything you need. That’s what Peter is telling us about life in Christ: God has already equipped us with all the resources to live faithfully, to grow spiritually, and to walk in obedience.
Too often, we feel unprepared for the struggles of life. Maybe you’ve faced a challenge at work or a difficult relationship and thought, “I don’t have what it takes.” But this verse reminds us that we do not live out of our own limited supply. God’s divine power, the very same power that raised Jesus from the dead, has placed within us everything needed to walk out a godly life.
Think of a lamp plugged into the wall. By itself, it’s just a piece of furniture. But once connected to the source, it shines. In the same way, our knowledge of Christ keeps us connected to the source of divine power. The more we grow in knowing Him, the more His sufficiency fills our lack. We don’t have to create light; we just stay plugged in.
Action Steps to help on your journey:
Begin the day reminding yourself: God has given me everything I need today through Christ.
Read one chapter of Scripture daily this week to grow in your knowledge of Him.
When facing a challenge, pause and pray, “Lord, I trust that You’ve equipped me for this moment.”
Challenge for the Day:
When you feel like you’re missing something, whether courage, wisdom, or strength, declare aloud: “God’s divine power has already given me what I need.” Let that truth redirect your thoughts from lack to abundance in Christ.
Father, thank You for not leaving me unequipped. Forgive me when I live as though I am lacking. Help me to grow in my knowledge of You, so I can live out the fullness of the life You’ve called me to. Remind me today that everything I need is found in You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
