The Power of a Simple Call
07/14/2025
“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
-Romans 10:13 (NIV)
This is one of the most beautiful and inclusive promises in all of Scripture. Everyone. Not just the righteous. Not just the religious. Not just the ones who have their lives together. Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
This verse is a direct quote from Joel 2:32, and Paul uses it in Romans to declare that salvation isn’t reserved for a specific group of people, it’s available to all. It’s not earned by good works, deep knowledge, or family heritage. It’s accessed through a simple, desperate, faith-filled call to Jesus.
Think of Peter walking on the water. As long as he kept his eyes on Jesus, he stood on the impossible. But when he sank beneath the waves of fear and doubt, he cried out, “Lord, save me!”. And what did Jesus do? He immediately reached out His hand. That’s what our God does.
We live in a world where people feel like they need to clean themselves up before coming to God. But the gospel says, “Call first. Come as you are. And you will be saved.” That word saved means more than just forgiven, it means rescued, delivered, restored, made whole.
Your story may not be perfect. Maybe you’ve stumbled. Maybe shame and regret feel heavier than hope. But hear this today: If you call on the name of Jesus, He will answer. You don’t need fancy words, just a sincere heart.
And if you’ve already been saved, don’t forget what it felt like to be rescued. Let that gratitude fuel your compassion for others who haven’t yet made the call. Because the promise is for them, too.
Here are some things to help you on your journey.
Reflect on your moment of salvation. What did it feel like to call on the Lord and be saved?
Write down the names of people you know who need to call on Jesus. Begin praying for them daily.
Share this verse with someone today—especially someone who feels like they’ve gone too far or messed up too much.
Remind yourself daily that your security is in Christ, not your performance.
My challenge for you is this:
Call on Jesus today. Not just for salvation, but for peace, direction, and strength. And be ready to help someone else make that life-changing call.
Lord, thank You for the simplicity and the power of this promise. Thank You that I can call on Your name and know that You will answer. Help me to never take that grace for granted. Fill my heart with compassion for those who are still searching. Use my life, my voice, and my testimony to lead others to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
