All In

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.”
—Deuteronomy 6:5 (NIV)
This verse is the heartbeat of the faith walk. It’s not a casual suggestion or a gentle encouragement, it’s a command that sets the tone for how we’re called to relate to God. Moses, addressing the Israelites as they prepared to enter the Promised Land, reminded them that a life of blessing begins with total devotion to the One who rescued them.
What does it mean to love God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength?
With all your heart means your emotions, your desires, and your decisions revolve around Him. It’s letting Him shape what you want, not just what you do. Like a couple madly in love, it’s that deep inner connection that makes you think, “I just want to be close to You, God. I want what You want.”
With all your soul means your very identity. Who you are at the core belongs to Him. This includes your personality, dreams, and your unique God-given design. It’s not compartmentalized Christianity; it’s a life that says, “Every part of me belongs to You.”
With all your strength speaks to your physical effort, energy, and resources. It’s how you show up. Meaning your time, your talents, your money, your work ethic. When you love someone with all your strength, you don’t hold back. You go the extra mile, not out of obligation but out of overflow.
Imagine a father playing catch with his son after a long day at work. He’s tired. He could sit on the couch. But his love moves him. So he gets up, goes outside, and throws that ball with joy, because love chooses effort even when it’s hard. That’s the kind of love God is inviting us to return to Him.
Here are four things you can do today to help you on your “All In” journey.
Reflect
Take 10 minutes today to journal ways you may be loving God with part of your heart, soul, or strength—and where He’s calling for more.
Commit
Choose one area (heart, soul, or strength) to fully surrender to God this week.
Live it out
Serve someone today with intentional love as an offering to the Lord.
Memorize
Commit Deuteronomy 6:5 to memory and meditate on it throughout your day.
Be all in. In every thought, every interaction, every task. Invite God to have your whole heart, soul, and strength. Let your love for Him be visible, not just in words, but in how you live.
Father, You are worthy of all my love. Forgive me for the times I’ve held back. Today, I want to love You with my whole heart, my entire soul, and every ounce of strength I have. Teach me to live a life that reflects a wholehearted devotion to You. Fill me with Your Spirit so that I can love You more deeply and serve You more faithfully. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
