Ask, Seek, Knock
5/13/2024
"For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened." - Matthew 7:8 (NIV)
In Matthew 7:8, Jesus encourages us to ask, seek, and knock. These three actions represent our pursuit of God and His will for our lives.
When we ask, we come to God with our needs, desires, and petitions. He invites us to bring everything to Him in prayer, knowing that He hears and responds to our requests according to His perfect will.
Jesus is encouraging us to be persistent in our prayers and requests to God. He wants us to come to Him with boldness and confidence, knowing that He is a loving and generous Father who delights in giving good gifts to His children.
Seeking goes beyond asking; it's a deliberate quest for wisdom, guidance, and understanding. As we seek God through His Word, prayer, and fellowship with other believers, we discover His character, His ways, and His plans for us. In our seeking, we find treasures of truth and revelation that deepen our relationship with Him.
Knocking signifies persistence and faith. It's not merely asking once and waiting passively, but actively pursuing God's promises and provision. When we knock, we demonstrate our trust in God's faithfulness and His willingness to answer. Even when the door seems closed, we persist in prayer, knowing that God's timing and purposes are perfect.
When we ask, seek, and knock, we are showing our faith and trust in God's ability to provide for our needs and desires. We are demonstrating our dependence on Him and our belief that He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we could ask or imagine.
Let's be encouraged to always ask, seek, and knock with confidence, knowing that our Heavenly Father delights in responding to His children. May we approach Him with boldness, pursue Him with diligence, and persist in faith, trusting that He will answer in His wisdom and love.
So today, bring your requests to God with boldness and confidence. Ask Him for what you need, seek Him with all your heart, and knock on the door of His presence, knowing that He is always ready to hear and answer your prayers.
Trust in His goodness and faithfulness, and believe that He will fulfill His promises to you. May you experience the joy and peace that comes from seeking God wholeheartedly and receiving His blessings in abundance.
