O Lord, You Are My God
02/25/2026
“Lord, you are my God;
I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness
you have done wonderful things,
things planned long ago.”
— Isaiah 25:1 (NIV)
Isaiah doesn’t begin with a request. He begins with a declaration.
“Lord, you are my God.”
There is so much power when you say those words out loud. Not just “God,” but “my God.” It’s personal. It’s relational. It’s covenant language. Isaiah was living in a time of uncertainty and looming judgment, yet he anchors himself in praise before the victory is visible.
Then, what he says next…..“I will exalt you and praise your name.” This is not a reaction to comfort. It’s a choice in the middle of chaos. My God I will praise You.
There have been seasons in my life where plans didn’t unfold the way I expected. Doors I thought would open stayed closed. Opportunities I prayed for seemed delayed or just never came about. I’ll be honest, in those moments, it’s tempting to measure God’s faithfulness by current circumstances.
But the prophet reminds us that God’s faithfulness isn’t determined by today’s headlines. “In perfect faithfulness you have done wonderful things, things planned long ago.”
God is never improvising. He knows my whole story, He knows your whole story.
What feels sudden to us was planned long ago by Him. What feels like delay to us is often divine design. The cross itself looked like defeat in real time. But it was “planned long ago.” Resurrection wasn’t an afterthought. It was written into the story from the very beginning.
Maybe today you’re walking through something you didn’t plan. A conversation you didn’t expect. A challenge you didn’t choose. A burden you didn’t see coming. Whatever it may be.
Before you try to fix it, declare the words of Isaiah:
“Lord, you are my God.”
When you make Him personal, fear loses some of its grip. When you choose praise before the breakthrough, your heart aligns with heaven’s perspective.
We don’t praise God because everything is perfect.
We praise Him because He is perfectly faithful.
Action Steps:
• Say out loud, “Lord, you are my God,” and mean it.
• Write down one “wonderful thing” God has done in your life that you didn’t understand at first.
• Choose one area of uncertainty and surrender it in praise rather than worry.
Today’s Challenge:
Before you complain about anything, praise God for something. Shift your posture before you shift your plan.
Let’s pray:
Lord, You are my God. Not just the God of history, but the God of my story. Thank You for Your perfect faithfulness. Even when I cannot see the whole picture, You are working from plans written long ago. Teach me to praise You before the breakthrough and trust You in the waiting. Anchor my heart in Your character, not my circumstances. In Jesus’ name, amen.
