For His Glory in the Ordinary

01/07/2026

“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”
— 1 Corinthians 10:31 (NIV)

It’s easy to think that bringing glory to God is reserved for the big moments, Sunday worship, mission trips, generous acts that cost us something. But Paul pulls the spotlight back to the ordinary and says, even eating and drinking can be acts of worship. In other words, nothing in your life is spiritually insignificant.

Think about how much of life is made up of small, repetitive actions. Making coffee. Answering emails. Driving the same roads. Preparing meals. Caring for kids or aging parents. Paul reminds us that God is not only glorified in the spectacular, but in the faithful presence we bring to the mundane. The glory of God is revealed when our everyday choices are shaped by gratitude, integrity, and love.

Imagine sitting down for a simple meal. No applause. No platform. Yet when you pause to give thanks, when you recognize God as the provider, when you share that table with kindness and humility, you are declaring that God matters here. The same is true at work. When you refuse to cut corners, when you treat people with dignity, when you work diligently even when no one is watching, you are quietly saying, God is worthy of my best.

This verse also reframes our motivation. The question is no longer, “Is this spiritual?” but “Does this reflect God’s glory?” That shift changes everything. It turns chores into offerings. Conversations into opportunities for grace. Decisions into moments of worship.

Glorifying God isn’t about adding more religious activity to your schedule. It’s about inviting God into what you’re already doing and choosing to do it with a heart that honors Him.

Action steps:
• Before starting a routine task today, pause and intentionally offer it to God.
• Practice gratitude in one ordinary moment, thank God out loud for something you usually overlook.
• Ask yourself before a decision, Does this reflect God’s character and goodness?

Today’s challenge:
Choose one ordinary activity and do it with extraordinary intention for God’s glory alone.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for caring about every part of my life, not just the big moments. Help me to see the ordinary as sacred and to live each day with a heart that honors You. May my words, actions, and attitudes reflect Your goodness so that You are glorified in all I do. Amen.
