The Word Became Flesh

10/15/2025

“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.”
— John 1:14 (NIV)

When John wrote these words, he was describing the most astonishing truth in human history, that God Himself stepped into time and space, wrapping divinity in humanity. The Creator became part of His creation. The invisible became visible. The infinite became intimate.

What God did through Jesus was totally countercultural. Think about it, would a king really leave his palace to live among his people, not in royal robes, but in their rags? Would he eat what they eat, walk where they walk, and carry their burdens.? Doubtful. But that’s what Jesus did. He didn’t come to observe us from a distance but to dwell among us, to be Emmanuel, God with us.

John says, “We have seen His glory.” That glory wasn’t shown in thunder or fire but in compassion, forgiveness, and love. Jesus’ glory was seen when He touched the leper, when He knelt beside the broken, when He forgave those who crucified Him. His truth was never harsh but redemptive; His grace never cheap but costly.

When grace and truth meet, transformation happens. Grace without truth leads to compromise. Truth without grace leads to condemnation. This is where we are in the world today. Christianity is under attack. There are those that want the grace, but not the truth. We must do both. In fact, it is in Jesus, that both perfectly coexist. He confronts sin without crushing the sinner. He redeems what the world rejects.

Action Steps:
1. Spend five quiet minutes today simply thanking God for sending Jesus to dwell among us.
2. Think of one person in your life who needs to experience both grace and truth, and find a way to show them both today.
3. Reflect on moments this week where you’ve felt God “with you.” Write them down to remind yourself of His presence.

Today’s Challenge:
Live as one in whom Christ dwells. Wherever you go, carry His grace and His truth, because through you, others can still see the glory of God revealed.

Prayer:
Father, thank You for sending Jesus, not as a distant deity but as a close Savior. Help me to live aware of Your presence today. May I reflect both Your truth and Your grace in every word and action. Dwell in me, Lord, that others may see Your glory through my life. In Jesus’ name, amen.
