Week Two - The Angels

Pastor Jeff

When the angels split the sky over Bethlehem, they didn’t announce a new tradition, a warm feeling, or a seasonal atmosphere. They proclaimed a revolution, the first declaration that peace with God had come to earth.

This week in The Cast of Christmas, we step into the scene with the shepherds as heaven breaks open and the angels declare:

“Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom His favor rests.” (Luke 2:14)

But the peace they proclaimed wasn’t the absence of war or holiday calm. It was something far deeper, the restoration of our relationship with God through the arrival of Jesus. The angels announced that through Christ, the barrier of sin would be removed, and humanity could finally experience true peace with God.

In this message, we’ll explore:

• Proclaiming Peace

Why the angels’ message wasn’t about worldly peace, but about spiritual rescue and restored relationship.

• Passing the Peace

How those who have received peace with God are called to become peacemakers in their homes, families, and Christmas gatherings.

• A Deeper Peace

How wisdom, patience, and mercy help us proclaim Christ in a season when tensions often rise.

• Being Peaceful

How we can’t proclaim a peace we haven’t received, and how to guard our hearts and minds so Christ’s peace can flow through us.

This week isn’t just about the angels’ song. It’s about joining their proclamation. It’s about becoming people who carry the peace of Jesus into living rooms, family dinners, crowded schedules, and complicated relationships. It’s about choosing peacemaking over peacekeeping, restoration over avoidance, and love over irritation.

Join us this Sunday as we discover how the angels’ announcement still echoes today, calling us to receive the peace of Christ and proclaim it everywhere we go.
