Week Four - The Magi

Dec 21, 2025    Pastor Jeff

Long before they arrived in our nativity scenes, the Magi traveled across deserts, kingdoms, and cultures — not to observe Christmas, but to worship the One who was born King. Their story invites us to recover the true treasure of Christmas when everything around us tries to steal it away.

This week in The Cast of Christmas, we’ll journey with the wise men and explore what their response teaches us about adoration, surrender, and true worship. While Herod responded with fear and the religious leaders responded with indifference, the Magi responded the only right way: with awe, joy, and extravagant worship.

In this message, we will discover:

• How the Season Can Be “Stolen”

Our planning, traditions, and busyness can distract us from the miracle of the Word becoming flesh — unless we guard the treasure of Christmas intentionally.

• Enter the Wise Men

Why these foreign astrologers, outsiders, were the ones who recognized the King… while those who should have known better missed Him entirely. A reminder to keep our hearts awake, not just our minds informed.

• The Danger of Familiarity

How the priests and teachers of the law knew the Scriptures but didn’t seek the Savior. A warning for all of us who know the Christmas story well.

• The Herod in All of Us

Why we must guard against self-protection, rigid expectations, and the desire to control the season, the very attitudes that caused Herod to oppose what God was doing.

• The Wise Response: Worship

The Magi bowed, opened their treasures, and offered gifts. Their example shows us that worship is the antidote to a stolen Christmas, because worship re-centers our hearts on the greatness, goodness, and nearness of God.

Worship isn’t just singing. It’s bowing, rejoicing, surrendering, giving, serving, celebrating, listening, and responding in love. This week we’ll rediscover how worship keeps the wonder of Christmas alive in us, no matter what else competes for our attention.

Join us this Sunday as we learn from the Magi how to bring Jesus the worship He deserves, and how to experience the power and wonder of Christmas in a way that cannot be stolen.
