From Sunrise to Sunset Praise

09/13/2025

“From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets, the name of the Lord is to be praised.”
– Psalm 113:3 (NIV)

There’s something timeless and beautiful about this verse. Every culture, every generation, and every corner of the earth experiences the rhythm of sunrise and sunset. Morning light announces a fresh start, while evening skies close the day with hues of reflection and rest. The psalmist reminds us that every moment between those bookends belongs to God and should be filled with His praise.

Think about it, our days are often filled with noise: rushing to work, deadlines, appointments, errands, and responsibilities. Yet from the moment our eyes open to the moment we rest, there’s an invitation to lift God’s name. Praise isn’t limited to Sunday mornings or worship services; it’s the heartbeat of a believer’s daily life.

A missionary once shared how, in a remote village, believers gathered at sunrise each day to sing songs of worship. They had no electricity, no instruments, and no microphones, but they had voices lifted to heaven. By the time the sun set, their lives had been marked with thanksgiving. Their witness wasn’t in their wealth or resources but in their continual praise.

When we begin and end our days with gratitude and worship, we anchor ourselves in God’s presence. Praise changes perspective, it lifts our eyes above our circumstances and fixes them on the One who is faithful from dawn to dusk.

Action steps to help on your journey:

Begin your morning with a short prayer of thanks before checking your phone.

At midday, pause for 60 seconds to whisper a word of praise, even if it’s just “Lord, You are good.”

Before bed, recall one way God showed up in your day and thank Him for it.

Today’s Challenge:
Set an alarm on your phone at sunrise and sunset. Each time it rings, stop and give God praise.

Prayer:
Father, from the rising of the sun to its setting, You are worthy of praise. Help me to fill my day with gratitude and worship, no matter what comes my way. May my life be a song that honors You from beginning to end. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
