A Promise Kept

12/09/2025

“‘The days are coming,’ declares the Lord, ‘when I will fulfill the good promise I made to the people of Israel and Judah.’”
- Jeremiah 33:14 (NIV)

There’s something powerful about a promise, especially when it comes from someone you trust deeply. As kids, we learned early that not every promise is equal. Some people say “I promise” loosely, while others mean every word and deliver every time.

God belongs firmly in that second category. When He speaks a promise, it isn’t wishful thinking, emotional optimism, or poetic encouragement. It is certainty. It is reality spoken ahead of time. Jeremiah 33 was written in a moment when Israel’s world felt unstable, cities under threat, futures unclear, people weary of waiting. Yet into that moment, God declared, “The days are coming…”
Not might come.
Not if things work out.
Not if you behave long enough.
No, “the days are coming when I will fulfill the good promise.”

Think about that: God ties His own name, His own character, His own reputation to His promises. If He speaks it, it will happen. If He promises it, it is already in motion, even if you can’t yet see it breaking the horizon.

Sometimes we grow discouraged because we live in the gap between the promise given and the promise fulfilled. You may be in that gap right now, praying for a breakthrough, longing for restoration, believing for healing, or hoping for clarity. And maybe you’ve wondered, “Did God forget?”
But Jeremiah 33 reminds us: God never forgets. He never misplaces a promise. He never abandons what He has declared. His timetable isn’t delayed, it’s deliberate.

Imagine ordering something valuable online. You receive the confirmation email, but the package doesn’t arrive for several days. You don’t panic because the confirmation assures you it’s already secured, it’s just not in your hands yet. God’s promises operate the same way. When He speaks, it’s as good as done. You may be waiting for the delivery, but the fulfillment is already on its way.

Action Steps:
• Write down one promise God has given you through Scripture that you’ve been waiting to see fulfilled.
• Pray specifically over it today, thanking God in advance for what He has already set in motion.
• Look back at one promise God has fulfilled in your life as a reminder that He finishes what He starts.

Today’s Challenge:
Where you feel doubt rising, replace it with this declaration: “God has never failed me, and He won’t start now.” Say it out loud three times today.

Prayer:
Father, thank You that You are a promise-keeping God. Thank You that nothing You declare falls to the ground or returns empty. Strengthen my heart in the waiting. Help me trust that Your timing is perfect and that Your promises are good. Remind me today that fulfillment is on the way because You are faithful. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
