Strength In The Waiting

09/11/2025

Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
– Psalm 27:14 (NIV)

This verse is a gentle but powerful reminder that God’s timetable rarely matches ours. David, who wrote this psalm, knew the tension between fear and faith, between wanting immediate answers and learning to rest in God’s promises. He had enemies pursuing him, uncertainty surrounding him, and yet he closes the psalm with this confident call to “wait for the Lord.”

Waiting on God isn’t passive, it’s active trust. It’s leaning into His promises even when circumstances haven’t changed. Think of a farmer who plants seed. He doesn’t dig it up every day to check if it’s growing; he waters it, tends the soil, and waits. The harvest doesn’t come instantly, but in due season it arrives. In the same way, our waiting is a season of strengthening, where God builds endurance, grows character, and deepens our faith.

When we rush ahead, we risk missing God’s best. But when we “take heart” and let Him unfold His plan, we discover He always knows the right moment to bring breakthrough, healing, or direction. The waiting may feel like wasted time, but in God’s hands, it’s preparation time.

Action steps to help on your journey:

Each morning this week, pray: “Lord, teach me to trust Your timing.”

Write down an area of life where you’re waiting on God, and instead of stressing, thank Him daily that He is already at work.

Read stories of biblical figures (Abraham, Joseph, Hannah) who saw God’s promises fulfilled after long seasons of waiting.

Today’s Challenge:
Instead of asking God “When?” today, ask Him “What are You teaching me while I wait?”

Prayer:
Father, give me the strength to wait well. Help me not to grow weary or discouraged but to trust that You are working all things together for my good. Teach me to be strong in the waiting, courageous in the silence, and confident in Your perfect timing. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
