True Beauty That Lasts

08/09/2025

“Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.” – Proverbs 31:30 (NIV)

The world has a way of putting its own price tag on beauty. From magazine covers to social media feeds, we are bombarded with images that tell us what is desirable, lovable, and valuable. But God sees beauty differently. He reminds us that outward charm and physical appearance can fade with time, yet there is a beauty that never loses its glow, the beauty that comes from a heart that reveres Him.

I once heard a story of a grandmother whose hair had long turned silver and whose hands bore the marks of a life of service. She wasn’t known for her fashion or her social media presence, but her home was a sanctuary of prayer. Neighbors came to her for wisdom, her family leaned on her faith, and her gentle spirit shone brighter than any diamond. Her beauty wasn’t defined by youth but by a lifelong love for the Lord.

This verse doesn’t diminish physical beauty, it simply puts it in its rightful place. It reminds us that what truly endures is the soul shaped by reverence for God, the life lived in obedience to Him, and the character formed in His presence. In God’s eyes, that’s the kind of beauty worth praising.

Action Steps to help you on your journey:

Take a moment to reflect on the women in your life whose faith has shaped you. Tell them how much you appreciate them.

Pray for God to help you value what He values, both in yourself and in others.

Spend intentional time this week in His Word, letting His truth shape your inner beauty.

Today’s challenge:
Compliment someone today not for their appearance, but for the Christlike qualities you see in them.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for reminding me that true beauty is found in a heart that fears You. Help me to seek a life that honors You more than one that chases the world’s approval. May my character reflect Your love, my words carry Your grace, and my actions bring You glory. Teach me to see beauty the way You do. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
