Hope in the Middle of the Wait

11/06/2025

“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’”
— Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)

When Jeremiah wrote these words, God’s people were in exile. They were displaced, discouraged, and feeling forgotten. Babylon wasn’t home. It was foreign ground filled with confusion and longing for what used to be. Many wanted instant deliverance, but God had something deeper in mind: transformation through waiting.

Let’s be honest, it’s easy to love this verse when life feels like it’s working out, but the true power of this verse is revealed when life doesn’t go according to plan. God wasn’t telling Israel, “I’m going to get you out tomorrow.” He was saying, “Even here, especially here, I’m still working for your good.”

When you plant seed in your garden you must wait before harvest. Rain falls, storms come, but beneath the soil, unseen roots are growing deep. In the same way, God’s plans often grow in hidden places, within your patience, obedience, and trust.

Maybe you’re in a “Babylon” right now, a place you never expected to be. Hold on. God’s plans are still good. They haven’t been canceled, only cultivated. The wait is not wasted.

Action Steps:
1. Write down one area of your life where you feel stuck or uncertain.
2. Each day this week, pray specifically for God’s perspective in that area.
3. Replace every “why” question with “what”—“Lord, what are You teaching me in this season?”

Today’s Challenge:
Trust that even when you don’t see progress, God’s plan is unfolding right on time.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for knowing the plans You have for me even when I can’t see them clearly. Help me to rest in Your timing and trust in Your goodness. Strengthen my heart to believe that every delay is part of Your design. I surrender my plans for Yours today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
